How to take care of oily skin

In the previous article in our series, which focuses on different skin types, we looked at caring for dry skin. In today’s article, we’ll look atoily skin.

If you struggle every day with unwanted shine on your face and blocked pores, today’s article is for you. Discover with ESSENS what your skin type needs, so that every time you look in the mirror, you’ll be pleased with what you see.

Characteristics of oily skin

How can you tell if you have oily skin?

  • excessive shine across the whole face (not just the T-zone)
  • blackheads, acne
  • clogged pores and enlarged pores
  • make-up tends to smudge and doesn’t last as long
  • the skin’s texture is denser and thicker

What causes oily skin and what helps restore its balance?

There are several different causesbehind excessive skin oil production, usually occurring in various combinations:

 genetics,

 hormones,

 the use of unsuitable cosmetics,

the time of year and the environment,

 lack of hydration,

a poor diet over the long term.

However, it’s worth noting that oily skin can also have certain advantages. This skin type ages more slowly, has natural elasticity, and current trends favour the “glow look” and “glass skin”/strong>- looks that those with oily skin are much closer to achieving than others.

How do Aloe vera and Colostrum help if you suffer from oily skin?

Oil-free hydration and a natural elixir for skin renewal. Aloe vera and Colostrum.

Aloe vera is a natural wonder and willingly helps even oily skin by providing pure hydration. But it can do much more.

  • A natural source of BHA (salicylic acid) - This acid can penetrate the pores and prevent the formation of blackheads.
  • Soothing care for inflammation - if your skin is red or irritated, aloe vera can easily soothe it and cool it down quickly.
  • The light texture of Aloe vera - Leaves the skin soft and refreshed without feeling heavy.
  • Thanks to the enzymes and minerals it contains, such as the well-known zinc, it also has mattifying effects, amongst other benefits.

Colostrum works as a biological elixir, overflowing with valuable and beneficial substances that aren’t just good for the immune system. It also offers plenty of other benefits for oily skin.

  • Lactoferrin is a hero in the fight against acne thanks to its powerful antibacterial and anti-inflammatory proteins.
  • The growth factors in colostrum (EGF) speed up cell renewal - which helps spots and acne scars to heal more quickly.
  • The antibodies in colostrum restore the skin’s natural defences. The skin then becomes more resilient and better able to manage its sebum and its production.

Home test - Do you have oily skin?

Try this simple home test using a paper tissue. Ideally, carry it out at room temperature, and not immediately after exercising or showering, so that the results aren’t affected.

Wash your face with clean, slightly warm water.

Gently pat your face dry with a clean towel - do not rub.

Do not use any cosmetics - creams or serums - for 30-60 minutes.

 Check the result.

Result:

Can you see a noticeable shine on your face? Place a single thin layer of tissue paper on your face. Press it gently against all areas of your face. Then hold the tissue up to the light. If you can see oily patches not only in the T-zone but also on your cheeks, you have oily skin.

Skin Care routine – Oily skin

UEnjoy the moments when you touch your beautiful skin and devote your time to it. Before you get started, don’t forget a few rules.

  • Don’t try to strip your skin of all its natural oils. The aim isn’t to completely strip the skin of its oils, but to bring it into balance. So be careful with overly harsh exfoliants and alcohol in products, which unnecessarily dry out the skin.
  • Moisturising is essential even for oily skin. People often confuse the imbalance of oils and water with oily skin. Without moisturising, however, the skin can become even shinier.
  • The right textures of productsfor oily skin:gels, fluids and water-based serums. Forget heavy, thick creams.
